Graduate School Orientation

Welcome to The Graduate School at UTSA!

You are about to start an exciting journey of self-improvement, professional growth, and academic excellence. Graduate School Orientation (GSO) provides the opportunity to receive an overview of how to succeed in graduate school, including the resources and student services available to you.

The event includes a UTSA Student Services Information Fair, Panel Discussions with faculty, break-out sessions for student success, and a concurrent family session. You will have the opportunity to take tours of UTSA's Main Campus and the Graduate Student Professional Development Center and also secure your UTSA Student ID and Parking Permit.  Lunch is provided for students. This event is required for new International Graduate Students and highly encouraged for our domestic students.  GSO is held prior to the Fall and Spring semesters; Summer admits are encouraged to attend in the Fall semester Orientation program.

The GSO Family and Guest Program allows your loved ones to share in your Graduate School Orientation experience.  They will take part in a session that discusses the importance of supporting their graduate student during the  Rowdy Family: Supporting Your Graduate Student session. Current students and alumni will talk about their experiences in graduate school and how family support makes all the difference in their success.  This session runs concurrently with the GSO student session.
