What is the Dissertation Camp at UTSA?

The Dissertation Camp at UTSA provides intensive, focused writing time in a quiet and supportive environment to help you make significant progress through the difficult stages of writing your doctoral dissertation.

Dr. Sonja Foss and Dr. William Waters, authors of Destination Dissertation: A Traveler’s Guide to a Done Dissertation, will provide one-on-one private consultations to help you move forward with your dissertation. In addition, they will guide attendees through effective writing strategies and setting attainable and manageable benchmarks.

Past participants of dissertation camps have made dramatic progress on their dissertations – many students go on to complete their dissertation within six to nine months!

Who Should Attend?

This event is for doctoral students who are currently working on their dissertation. It is strongly recommended that your dissertation proposal has been approved by your committee.

Advisors and mentors are welcome to participate and observe.

The Facilitators

Dr. Foss and Dr. Waters have over fifteen years of experience conducting dissertation camps at universities around the country. Collectively, they have assisted in the completion of more than one thousand dissertations as a direct result of students attending these events.

These distinguished professors are skilled at identifying problems and barriers encountered by students writing dissertations. Dr. Foss and Dr. Waters provide strategies to move forward and overcome these barriers.
