Transdisciplinary Team Grand Challenge: Wellbeing

The Graduate School is pleased to announce the Transdisciplinary Team Grand Challenge: Wellbeing for graduate students at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).

In recent years, interest in overall health quality of life has increased. Scholars and practitioners in many areas have identified multiple aspects of wellbeing. Some of the main types of wellbeing include but are not limited to the following: emotional, physical, spiritual, social, financial, occupational, environmental, and intellectual. Scholars have identified many factors that correlate with various aspects of wellbeing. For example, higher levels of well-being are associated with a lower risk of illness and increased longevity. Although some dimensions of wellbeing have been the subject of study for many years, others have been only recently identified as aspects of wellbeing and debate about definitions is ongoing. Therefore, our challenge to UTSA’s graduate students is to work together across disciplines to propose conceptual projects to address any aspect of wellbeing.

Teams should be formed in groups of 3-5 students from at least two different programs in two different colleges. Student groups will work together on a transdisciplinary proposal to address an issue associated with water.
