Graduate Certificate in Medical Device Commercialization and Entrepreneurship 

Basic Certificate Information

A Graduate Certificate program in Medical Device Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (MDCE) is administered by the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering.  This certificate is for students who are interested in gaining entry into the biomedical industry workforce.  Students will be awarded to candidates who have satisfactorily completed all the requirements for the program and are in good academic standing.

Admission Requirements and Prerequisites

Undergraduate and graduate students who are currently in engineering, sciences, or business discipline may apply to the certificate program.

Application Requirements:
 General University Requirements All applicants (graduate and undergraduate students) must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better in the last 60 semester credit hours of coursework with a major in a recognized science, engineering or business discipline. Students with deficiencies in the above courses will be required to satisfactorily complete selected courses as a condition of acceptance.
 Application A completed Graduate School application, unless currently enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate student.
 Transcripts Official transcripts from all institutions attended. All international transcripts must be recorded in English or officially translated to English.
 Resume or Curriculum Vitae Not required.
 Letters of Recommendation At least one letter of recommendation is requried.
 Statement of Purpose Not Required.
 Test Scores Not required.
 Evaluation of Foreign Credentials

All applicants including non-U.S. citizens (International), U.S. Citizens, and permanent residents who have earned university-level credit from foreign institutions are required to submit official transcripts along with an evaluation of the transcripts from Foreign Credentials Service of America

Must meet international graduate student admission requirements
  • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5.
  • TOEFL: Minimum scores of 79 or 60 for Internet or paper versions, respectively.
